If Only We could just Go back to Yesterday Morning....

Sometimes, when bad things happen, we wish that we could just go back in time to before that bad thing happened.

My son called me this morning, From Georgia Youth Camp.. Our church here had called and told the youth director to tell the children what had happened.

My son's teammate and another one of his teammates twin brother are involved in a tragedy.

Price ( age 15) and Parker ( 16) were at Parkers house last night.. Price was spending the night at Parker's House.

It seems that Price and Parker were looking at some of Parkers guns.. Price was holding the gun, they both were thinking that the guns were on safety.... Then the gun Price was holding accidentally went off...killing Parker.

My son is heartbroken.. I could tell he had been crying......

I cringe when people don't have their guns locked up.. What is so scary to me as a mother , is that around here.....the teenagers are hunters.. They learn from their fathers..

My husband has guns, but they are locked in a gun cabinet..

I cringe when he takes my son hunting..

I get laughed at, with the men saying," ohhh, that's just what mothers do.." But honestly, I could cry when they go hunting..

Thankfully, My son and his father don't go hunting much..

They do go target shooting sometimes on the 4-wheelers..

This is such a subject.. I am not against gun ownership... I am just against teenagers and kids having guns...

If you pray, please pray for these families.... I can only imagine how painful this whole tragedy is..

God Bless you all. ...

Bunches of hugs..

I am ready for my son to come home from Georgia now...
I want to have a serious talk with him and my daughter about the dangers of guns....
I've found several websites.......

Oh Stephanie,

I am so sorry to hear about this. I just now came to know of you via BlogCatalog, but I wish to express my condolences to your son and all others involved.

My son lost one of his best friends at the age of 16 in a similarly tragic way about 10 yrs. ago. Thank God my son was miles away at the time.

I feel compelled to let you know my son and his friends dealt with their grief in some ways that seemed different and strange to us, their parents. The best we were able to do was to be there, keep a close eye on them, and most of all, listen carefully without condemnation of their friends when they were ready to discuss their grief with us.

I will keep your son, your family, and his friends in my prayers. I am so sorry for this young man's family and friends.

it is a terrible tragedy. and yes educating them on gun safety is going to be paramount to this not happening in your home.

my heart goes out to the poor family that lost a child. I bet the guns leave their house now.

Oh Steph, I'm so sorry this happened. I'm not an advocate of gun ownership, as my sister was shot and murdered by her boyfriend (with his hunting rifle) in the mid 70's. I have trouble even touching any kind of firearm. This is just so sad. He was so young. And his friend will have to live with this on his conscience, even though it was an accident. Life is not fair.
