The kids get out for the Holidays this Friday..... I've only got a couple more gifts to purchase, then I'm thru with Christmas shopping..
I got tickled this morning, watching the news, and they were telling about re-gifting.
I don't think it would bother me, if someone re-gifted an item to me. I have never really cared what I got for Christmas.....It's always been the thought that counted..
I could never understand people asking for a certain thing for Christmas..I know there is nothing wrong with it, but I have never been able to do it. Maybe that's an assertiveness problem /issue that I have..
My kids sure don't have that problem..
I think they are spoiled..... And then , when I say that, I think, I feel sorry for the poor child that isn't a little spoiled.
I'm trying to teach them to do for others, and that would be a wonderful gift and feeling.
You know, the Pay it forward idea?
So....... I'm going to challenge myself on this... I'm going to do my best to do things for others..
I'm going to try to go out of my way..
Really... That is probably what I should do all the time, but I'm going to make a real effort..
My kids think it's a great idea too..
We're not going to tell what we do, but we will know the feeling tat we get from helping others..

Hey, I totally agree with you about the "paying it forward" during Christmas! I think that there are some easy ways to teach kids this-- let them each pick out a child from the Angel Trees at malls, etc., then they get to pick out a gift for a needy child. Every year, my Sunday School class picks out a family to help. Any agency can let you know about a family to help.
On another note--I always give my dh a long list of gift ideas. I love to give gifts, but I'm still like a kid and love to get gifts too. (Now, granted, I get excited about candy and socks and cheap earrings, so I'm really easy to please!)
Cheryl- I like the gift idea list...Yeah.. I'm easy to please too.. My kids can draw me a picture and I'll cry, because it touches me...I've always been a crybaby..lol
Picking out a family for Christmas is a great idea..
I need to do things for others too. I'm a spoiled, selfish brat most of the time. It's not a good feeling!
Paying it forward, that's a wonderful thing. Even the little things count, though. I just need to remember that and act on it! Thanks for the reminder.

Yes.. sometimes the little things really mean alot to someone..
I doubt you are spoiled..You seem to be such a giving person..
I need to really remember the pay it forward, for all the elderly in my life..
I have a feeling some of them are feeling lonely.Just a phone call sometimes, can help cheer them up..

I think paying it forward is just looking for the opportunity to do so, and if you have faith and trust in your diety, the choices will expand as does your generosity!
I have a hard time letting go of much, as I don't have much to begin with! but I try when I can!

One thing I love to do, is the "Be A Santa To A Senior". It's much like the "Angel Tree", except you're adopting a senior who in a nursing home. Most have no families-- it's so heartwarming to know you're doing something good for someone, especially an elder. *hugs*

But we can do the small stuff too..
