Hospice Volunteer Banquet

I had the great pleasure of being invited to the Hospice Volunteer Banquet. It was the hospice staff's way of saying thank you and was so sweet of them.. I got this beautiful certificate , a scroll with a poem on it and potted plant.

It was fun to meet some of the others that were volunteers and the hospice staff. They had some very touching stories too. I wish I could do more, really.. We have 25 patients right now that we do things for.

Just a note, if you are looking for ways to help in your community, this is a wonderful way..

I am a Non-contact volunteer, because I work full time and have the children at home, so I can't go to the homes, like a contact volunteer can. But I make gifts, crafts and send cards and the hospice staff distribute them to the patients.. They said the patients enjoy those little things so much.. It brings a smile to their faces, when they get a card or a little happy..

Well, I hope all of you have a wonderful day.. It's sunny here and warming up.. YEAH!

Bunches of hugs!

It's very ironic that you blogged about this today. Last night I went with my daughter to a volunteer meeting for her to work at Children's Hospital during the summer. She is very excited, and the it made me want to volunteer too. I don't really have time either because of a full time job but my heart would like to.

I did not know that I could be doing something like that without going to the homes..... I am going to contact my hospice center tomorrow......... you are a gift of time to those precious people .. and God is watching each kindness that you do..... We may not see when we touch someones heart but God does...

Stephanie,

I didn't know that I could do that without going to the homes either. I will see what I can find out. I can make cards, postcards and other items that could bring a little joy into someone's life. Thanks for posting this and thank you for being such a sweet person to give of your time.

Blessings,
Mary

Hi Friend,
May I request, if it is not too much of a burden to you, to please subscribe to my Feedburner Feeds either through email or to my RSS Feed Reader. You can find them at the upper portion of my sidebars at all my blogs. This will save you the time of going over to my blogs to find out if I have made a new posting. The FeedBurner will automatically transmit, either through email or Feed Reader (whichever you choose), any new post that I make. This will facilitate linkages between us. I will do the same for you if you have your own feeds, but if you still don't have I will still visit your blog as often as I could. Just inform me via email or through your comment in any of my blogs that you have already enrolled in any of my feeds so that I can reciprocate your gesture. I will appreciate it very much if you could do this as it will definitely boost ranking for my blogs. Thank you very much for your usual kind cooperation and patronage of my blogs. God bless you and your loved ones always.

BIG Congrats to you! I think it's absolutely wonderful what you're doing, and that inspires me! When I saw you said you were a Hospice volunteer, I was thinking, "man, she's a tough person to be able to see these people and keep it together."

It never occurred to me, that you can help care for these people even if you don't have direct contact with them.

God bless you for all you do *hugs*

I'm certain those folks love getting your gifts. Many have probably been sick for a long time and you give them a bright spot in their day.

Hi Stephanie,

I'm going to call our local hospice this week. I don't know what I can do, but I want to do something. You have inspired me.

Bless you, dear blogging friend.

I had never heard of a "non contact" volunteer, but it sounds like a wonderful way to bring joy to the lives of those in such a stressful time. Bless you for doing this!
